Harvest University Follow-Up

Posted by Mike Willis on Wednesday, May 05, 2010. Comment.
Five of us from Harvest North Raleigh had the privilege of joining nearly 1000 people in Elgin, IL for three days of vibrant worship and equipping workshops. Each of us returned motivated and recharged about why we're doing what we do at Harvest.

Carol Walter attended the Children's Ministry track, Mike Walter attended the Small Groups track, Vanessa (my wife) and Jason Kennedy attended the Biblical Counseling track, and I attended the High Impact Services track. All were incredible and led by humble, excelling men and women through whom the Lord is bearing much fruit. You should come next year! Save up and plan for April 2011 Harvest U!

Here are my main take-aways that are already polishing what we're already doing at Harvest North Raleigh:
  1. Sunday morning's goal is singularly the transcendence of God amidst the gathered people. No gimmicks.
  2. Subtle ministry creates subtle followers of Christ - Raleigh is full of them - come to Harvest and grow!
  3. Songs and sermons are vehicles to God, not vehicles to people worship. Amen.
Here are my main personal take-aways already being implemented in my life:
  1. Patience - I must take the cultural pressure off of myself to grow the church, that's God's role (1 Cor 3:6)
  2. Thankfulness - people are growing in Christ, coming to Christ, going for Christ = accomplishing mission
